Power quality is evaluated by measuring voltage, current, and frequency for deviations that can affect connected equipment. Nonlinear loads, variable-frequency drives, renewable energy systems, EV chargers, and other power electronics can introduce harmonics, transients, voltage dips, swells, and other disturbances that affect equipment performance and system reliability.

A power quality study records when a disturbance occurs, its severity, and what was happening on the system at the time.
